ScubaGrl asks: I’m trying my best to lose some weight, but nothing helps. I’m also suffering from acne, which destroys my confidence everyday. (I had it worse last year. It’s better now. So I think there’s some progress.) It’s not like it’s a little bit. They are everywhere in my face. Plus being fat isn’t helping. I am happy, but whenever someone talks about my fat and acne, I can’t help but feel bad. I don’t know what to do anymore. Can you please help me?
Hi ScubaGrl –
Acne and overweightness are two really difficult issues. Both happen naturally, and for a multitude of reasons. So it’s hard to give you one specific “cure” for either.
It’s also hard because I’ve never suffered from either. With weight, I’m so energetic it’s hard for me to keep enough weight on for my ribs to not be visible. And with acne… well… it’s not fair I know, but… my face is covered with beautiful fur, so even if I had it, no one would see it!
Now I’ve written other pieces on my website about ways to lose weight, but they’re probably things you’ve already heard: exercise more, drink more water, eat less junk food, get enough sleep… I know, borrrring.
But I do have one suggestion, that might help with both. I can’t guarantee it’ll help at all, but if you do it the way I’m saying, it shouldn’t have any negative side-effects, so there’s no reason not to give it a try.
Do you know about acidity? I’m sure you know what acid is, but there’s a level of degree of acidity in all fluids. There’s very acidic, there’s water (which is right in the middle), and there’s something called Alkaline, which is the opposite of acidic. Today, most humans eat a very acidic diet. Things like meat, bread, and milk all form acid in your stomach. But other foods don’t. Green vegetables are very alkaline, for example. And acidic fruits, like lemons and oranges, actually convert to alkaline when you’re digesting them.
Now here’s my thought. I said green vegetables are alkaline, right? Well if you have a store near you that sells very healthy foods, they likely will have powdered or liquid chlorophyll (which is the substance that makes vegetables green). If you ask them, the store can probably help you find one of these that would be a great supplement to your diet – and hopefully not taste so bad you’d never take it!
You see, lots of times, a person’s weight and complexion can be affected by the acidity in their system. And if you start taking something that will de-acidify your system a little, it might help you lose some weight and clear up your face enough to let your beauty shine through. And if it doesn’t work at all on those – again, this can only be good for you (as long as you don’t take more than the label suggests!).
This can also help a lot with stomach aches. After all – haven’t you seen us pooches eat grass when we’re feeling nauseous? We know what we’re doing! (But I recommend one of these products for you instead; you don’t know who’s been doing what on any grass you might think of chewing on!)
Of course, always ask and trust your doctor first. But I do think this might be worth a try.
Good Luck!
Shirelle
